The Department is responsible for: • Coordinating the activities of Special Schools in the State • Preparing school calendar and Collectibles • Resolving school land encroachment matters • Hosting WAEC State Committee Meetings • Screening of supervisors for external examinations and attending National Council Meeting on WAEC Affairs • Organizing school quiz and debate • Liaising with Private and State owned Tertiary Institutions • Presenting nominees for Presidential Teacher and School Excellence Award • Issuing letter of eligibility to students intending to study abroad • Monitoring Nomadic and Migrant – Fishermen education • Training interested staff and members of the public in French language • Monitoring Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) • Monitoring of Parent Teachers Association (PTA) projects • Coordinating the activities of School Based Management Committee (SBMC) • Organising sporting events in State schools • Coordinating Professional Association Affairs
